As a therapist experienced in chronic illness in Bristol, working with chronic fatigue, chronic pain, and other long-term health conditions, I recognise that physical and mental health are intertwined.
A long-term illness or physical health condition can prevent you from being able to function or live as you would like to, including in your work and relationships. It can also challenge your sense of your own identity.
Talking to a trained, experienced therapist can help you with coping with long-term illness, chronic pain, physical health conditions, and other health anxieties you may have.
Psychodynamic therapy for long-term illness and other physical health conditions can support you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your experience of your physical self, help you to manage symptoms and emotions and develop agency, and support you to make positive and practical changes for your overall wellbeing.
I work with you sensitively and collaboratively to help you process the unique challenges and losses that come with living with a chronic condition or illness. Not only the day-to-day reality and impact, but also the associated difficulties, including pain, fatigue, stress, intense emotion or feeling cut off, strained relationships, anxiety and depression.
Your physical safety and comfort is a priority during psychotherapy for chronic pain and other health conditions; I work with you collaboratively to facilitate this. My consulting room is in central Bristol BS2 and is accessible. I offer video or telephone sessions if you are unable to leave your home. In the consulting room, you have a choice of a comfortable armchair or a couch.
As far as possible, I work with you flexibly to accommodate your health needs and medical appointments.
As a therapist specialising in chronic illness, I support you to advocate for your health so that you can make practical and positive changes for your life.
The consulting room is on the ground floor of a building on Old Market Street in Bristol. It is quiet and peaceful.
There are metered parking spaces across the street from the consulting room.
There are no steps to enter the room, however the bathroom is up a short flight of stairs on the first floor.
Please contact me to know more about the accessibility of the consulting room.
